First Regional Course on Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection

As the year begins, UNFPA and government partners continue to collaborate to protect the most vulnerable, especially girls and women. The Civil Protection and Fire Service (SPCB) in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), have launched the  1st Regional Course on Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection, in a Semi-Presencial format.

Taking  place from the 24th to the 27th of January, the training  aims to  strengthen the technical  capacity of Provincial Civil Protection Commissions teams. 53 staff are participating in this training on generating methodological instruments to improve performance in Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection. These collaborations are key to fully  realize Angola’s adherence to  the 21 Nairobi Commitments.

Technology allows Angolan teams to reach the furthest left behind.

The training has been a successful example of blending presencial and remote working conditions to reach the furthest left behind. In the  group, 30 participants  have physically  joined the training  and 23 remotely, from the provinces of Huambo (19), Bié (05), Benguela (04); Cuanza Sul (02). The provinces of Cuanza Sul (10), Cuando Cubango (5), Cuanza  Norte (03), Luanda (05) are participating, showing that distance does not impede the realization of SRH and gender rights in Angola.

The group of participants is made up of staff from the CPSPCB, Provincial Delegations of Ministries including MASFAMU, Environment, Infrastructure and Technical Services.

The training opened with an enthusiastic speech by His Excellency Commissioner Francisco Monteiro Ribas da Silva, MININT-HBO Delegate, on behalf of His Excellency Dr. Lotti Nolica, Governor and Provincial Coordinator of Civil Protection.
