MASFAMU launches Data and Information Platform on Gender-Based Domestic Violence

Launch of Gender-Based Domestic Violence Digital Platform

The Ministry of Social Action, Family and Women Promotion (MASFAMU) held this Monday, October 2nd, International Day of Non-Violence, the official launch of the Digital Information Platform on Gender-Based Domestic Violence (GBV).

The development of the digital platform was supported by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and is accessible at: http://violenciadomestica.ao/#/.

 

 

The platform is a digital tool to support domestic violence prevention and victim protection services in Angola, and its objectives and expected results are to improve the recording and processing of statistical data on the situation of domestic violence, strengthen reporting mechanisms of violence, harmonize information on GBV, reinforce the implementation of the Law Against Domestic Violence, promote communication between institutions that deal with GBV, as well as better alignment of actions, programs and public policies for prevention.

The launch ceremony took place in one of the hotels in Luanda and was presided over by the Minister of Social Action, Family and Women Promotion, Ana Paula Sacramento Neto, accompanied by the Secretary of State for Culture, Maria da Piedade de Jesus and the secretary of State for Pre-School and General Education, Pacheco Francisco.

In her intervention, the Minister mentioned that, in order to prevent and fight domestic violence in a quickly and effectively manner, it is essential to create a mechanism for collecting, storing and processing data capable of presenting information and figures closer of reality.

 

This digital platform will benefit public and private institutions that deal with the issue of violence, educational institutions, researchers and society in general.

In addition to UNFPA and other United Nations agencies in Angola, representatives from the Interior ministries were present at the meeting; Social Action, Family and Women Promotion; Youth and Sports, Parlamentarians of the National Assembly; representatives of Churches and civil society.
