Access to quality information on sexual and reproductive health is still a challenge for many adolescents and young people. Digital platforms have emerged as a strategic means of addressing this issue in an accessible, interactive and effective way.
The Oi Kambas App, which is free, safe and anonymous, is an innovative platform for young people that offers interactive information on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights/HIV; Relationships; Gender-Based Violence; and other crucial issues for Angolan adolescents and young people, and which is available on the playstore.
The new version of the Oi Kambas app, which has been available since March 2025, has made it possible to include more content and improve some technical features that provide a better user experience.
UNFPA's Innovation Associate, Waldequer Miranda, explains that one of the main new features of this new version is the inclusion of Health Units offering Adolescent and Youth Friendly Services (SAAJ) and the Geolocalisation of Hospital Units offering Sexual and Reproductive Health services, covering more provinces. ‘This update will make it possible to use the latest Android technologies, guaranteeing a better user experience and compatibility with a wide range of android devices,’ he concluded.
About the Oi Kambas app
The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MINJUD), in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) as part of the Youth Safeguarding Programme (SYP), has developed the Oi Kambas mobile application. The project was launched on 17 June 2022 by the National Youth Directorate for the whole country on the programme ‘’A Tarde é Nossa‘’ on TV Zimbo.
Oi Kambas is available on mobile phones with the Android operating system and offers a unique browsing experience with themes and content aimed at teenagers and young people. After downloading the app, 80 per cent of the content can be accessed without internet and 20 per cent online updates and resources.
