The radio soap opera ‘Oi Kambas - Let's talk about our things’ will premiere on Rádio Ecclesia on 31 March 2025, bringing an innovative and dynamic approach to sexual and reproductive education for adolescents and young people in Angola.
With 60 episodes, the radio soap opera is part of the Oi Kambas project, developed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MINJUD), in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and features engaging stories that reflect the day-to-day situations of young people, addressing issues such as health, relationships, schooling and well-being.
The expectation is that the radio soap opera will have a significant impact on promoting positive attitudes among teenagers and young people, with a consequent contribution to Angola's sustainable development, by tackling essential issues such as the prevention of early pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), menstrual health and other fundamental issues for the full development of Angolan youth.
By integrating information and entertainment, the initiative uses clear and accessible language, promoting a safe space for reflection and learning.
The episodes will be broadcast on Mondays and Fridays at 2.40pm on Rádio Ecclesia, providing listeners with an engaging and interactive educational experience, which can also be followed on UNFPA Angola's YouTube and Facebook channels.
The history of collaboration between MINJUD and UNFPA includes the implementation of the JIRO Programme, the creation of the Youth SMS Call Centre, the Oi Kambas app, South-South cooperation missions and the multi-sectoral implementation of the Safeguarding Young People Programme (SYP).
