UNFPA, United Nations agency for sexual and reproductive health, plays a crucial role in supporting censuses and promoting the use of data for evidence-based planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies, projects and programmes in both, humanitarian response and development settings.

For the 2024 Census of Angola , UNFPA is providing technical, logistical and financial support to the National Statistics Institute (INE), including in the areas of cartography, information technology and data processing, marketing and communications.

As part of a loan agreement between the National Statistics Institute (INE) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), UNFPA provided logistical support transporting 8,621 tablets from Windhoek city (Namibia) to Luanda. The tablets were handed over on 17 June 2024, at the headquarters of the National Statistics Institute.

UNFPA Angola's Population and Development Specialist, Sandile Simelane, on behalf of the UNFPA Representative, symbolically handed over the tablets to the Director General of INE, José Calengi. Senior officials from both INE and UNFPA witnessed the handover ceremony.
