The SYP Peer Educators at the Support Centre for Refugee Women, in Viana, and the Peer Educators at School 6015 at Km 44, in Icolo e Bengo, received a visit from the Regional Coordination of the Youth Safeguarding Programme (SYP) on 2 July 2024.
The SYP Peer Educators in these locations have been providing significant benefits to the community by delivering talks on sexual and reproductive health issues, including content on the Community Resilience Model (CRM).
The visit was attended by Ms Tamisayi Chinhengo, SYP Regional Coordinator, and Ms Isabelle Jost, Innovation and Youth Development Programme Specialist, accompanied by representatives from the Provincial Health Office, the Youth Support Centre, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and UNFPA Angola's Youth Programme Officer, Luís Samacumbi.
"It's always good to be on the ground to see and appreciate the work being done with young people," said Mrs Tamisayi, SYP's Regional Coordinator. She pointed out that the main aim of this visit is to recognise SYP's work and also to learn ways of improving programming, not only in Angola, but also in the other 11 countries where SYP is implemented.
During the visits, the SYP Regional Coordinator attended a training session on CRM, heard stories from beneficiaries and had the opportunity to talk to the SYP National Coordinator.
