The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) office in Angola, representatives of government partners and civil society organizations met between 6 and 7 December, in Luanda, to discuss the results of the implementation of the Eighth Program of the Country (2020 – 2023). At the Annual Meeting of Partners, participants also began to prepare the ninth CPD (2024 – 2027).

At this month's meeting in Luanda, UNFPA and 50 representatives of partner organizations analyzed the joint actions implemented in the past months, with a view to detecting needs and areas of opportunity for 2023, the last year of the 8th Programmatic Cycle.

In this balance, the institutions highlighted as positive points the actions of professional training, advocacy and technical support for the execution of programs in the areas of Sexual and Reproductive Health, Adolescents/Youth and Gender and Population and Humanitarian Dynamics, which they hope to reinforce in the next year.

The operationalization of the Gender Observatory, by the Ministry of Family and Women's Promotion, the expansion of the JIRO program and the launch of the Oi Kambas application, by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MINJUD), were examples of goals successfully achieved in 2022 by the partners governmental.

During the Annual Meeting of Partners, participants also defined concrete objectives for 2023, with emphasis on the creation of the Angolan Youth Parliament, by MINJUD, or the implementation of a Strategic Plan for Primary Health Care at national level, for the period 2022-2027, by the National Directorate of Public Health.

The debate on achieved goals and future objectives is aimed at achieving the so-called “3+1 transformative results”, in line with the country's priorities: Zero unmet family planning needs, Zero preventable maternal deaths, Zero gender-based violence and harmful practices against women and girls and Zero sexual transmission of HIV.

During the Annual Meeting of Partners, UNFPA also recognized MINJUD and the National Service of Civil Protection and Firefighters with the Best Implementing Partner Award for the 2022 Work Plan, in the categories of government and civil society, respectively.

In addition to UNFPA Angola, representatives of the Ministries of Economy and Planning were present at the meeting; Social Action, Family and Women's Promotion; of Youth and Sports; and Health. The organizations World Vision, Humanitarian Missions Fraternity, Council of Christian Churches in Angola, Youth Support Center and AfriYAN represented civil society at this event, which also included the presence of the National Institute of Special Education, the National Institute of Statistics, the National Youth and Civil Protection and Fire Service.
